Dear All,
I have been declined a tourist visa to the US due to inability to prove my intent on coming back to Dubai, where I'm the resident. The reason for travel is my friends' wedding which we've decided to turn into a vacation opportunity and my 30th birthday celebration at Disneyland (classy).
I'm well aware of the rules and not trying to dispute them, they are strict for a reason. I'm looking for some advice on how to prove them I do intend to return to my residential country and that my trip is indeed of a short-term nature.
I have following documents: approved vacation leave, non-objection letter from employer, booked flight tickets and hotel confirmations (I didn't know I could be rejected, that was foolish from my side), my renewed employment with a stable and good salary, wedding invitation of friends who are getting married in the States (UK citizens with no US visas, just tourist), payslips, trip itinerary...
My questions were: What is the purpose of your visit? Tourism, friends wedding, and my own birthday celebration. Have you traveled before? Most of Europe and some Asia. How long have you been in Dubai? 3 years. Do you have any family overseas? No, my sister is in Dubai and parents back at home. Are you married? No, single. - declined.
The officer had no time to look at any of my documents and I didn't want to risk any problems with urging them to do so, so I've left the venue planning to reapply.
The lady was very polite and I had no issues with her, and I can see how being a 20something single expat rings an alarm. But how do I prove them that I'm happy at my job, have my sister back in Dubai, my apartment, friends... How to persuade them that I'm going back without sounding like a broken record to them?
If anyone sees any error in my answers or if anyone knows if I'm allowed to request for someone to go through my documents, it would be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
