  • B2 Visa acceptance.

My sister is graduating in May and my parents and I applied for the Visa on April 23rd in Chennai. The Visa interview went very smoothly and the Visa officer was very sweet as well. We applied a family slot.
Documents: DS160, Sponsor letter, graduation letter, bank statement, payslips, offer letter, I20.
    The interview went as follows:

    Visa officer: Good morning.
Us: Good morning! (With a huge confident smile which made the VO smile as well.)

VO: Why do you want to visit the US?
Me: For my sister's masters graduation.

    VO: From which University?
Me: From XYZ university in Long Island.

VO: What is your occupation? (Directed towards my Dad)
    Dad: I work in XYZ.

    VO: What is your income?
Dad: It's around XYZ lakhs per annum.

VO: What are you doing ( Directed towards me)
Me: i finished my 12th and I am going to Pursue Engineering in August.

    VO: In which school?
Me: I am writing entrance tests as of now. I have given JEE and I am going to give another entrance on May 5th and another when I return on May 26th.

The next few minutes he types something and then he continues.

VO: When are you going to come back?
Me: On the 21st of May.

VO: So are you going to stay in New York for 2 weeks?
Me: No, we are going to Seattle and from there we will visit New York for the graduation ceremony. ( I assumed this to be a trick question since we had mentioned Seattle in DS160 and yet he asked if we were going to stay in New York.)

He then resumes typing with a poker face. I was worried we were going to be rejected since he hadn't asked for any documents and he didn't even ask much question. Also given my education status I thought he might reject it. Later on he looked at us and smiled and said, " Your Visa is approved."

In the end, you need to be confident and not lie despite the tough situation. Just the truth is enough to fetch you the Visa.
Hope you guys have a good time, as well xD
