B2 extension in progress - need to go out of USA and come back

Hi

Case : my parent b2 is currently under extension process. Got the i 539 receipt notice already.
we have a up coming cruise plan. Which means my parents has to go out of the country (via cruse) and get back into the country

Question : will it be a problem to get into the country by just having the i 539 receipt notice ?
What kind of issues we will face during immigration ?
Or
will the UICIS will give a new i94 since it is technically like going out of country and coming back ?
