I am a graduate student from India in Canada and need to visit US in August 2018 for less than a week. I just got my Indian passport renewed and I have applied for Study Permit Extension for which the current processing time is 35 business days. My TRV is valid until February 28, 2019. Ideally I am supposed to extend my TRV once I receive my renewed study permit. The current processing time for TRV is 30days excluding transit period for passport submission and reception which the CIC says is at least 10 days.
1) Can I apply for B2 visa right now, to be certain that if I am approved for visitor visa then It will be in time? If not, can I apply right after I receive my study permit or do I have to get my TRV renewed and only then apply for B2 visa.
2) Can I apply to any other city within Canada where I have less waiting period for interview?
