My name is Priya kumar.Im a medical school graduate from India.I wish to pursue my post graduation studies in USA.I planned to go for a clinical rotation(which is a part of my usmle requirement) for 2 months in JPK hospital Chicago.I had my interview twice.
The 1st time i had applied under B1/B2 category in the month of February 2018.they had asked my basic questions like intent of visit(clinical rotation), where have i been outside india, what will i be doing there. The vo said can?t do any kind of clinical training or any kind as such with a B1/B2 and he said that i need to apply under J1 visa type.i was then handed a 214(b)
The 2nd time i applied was in march 2018.On asking beckers education institute(classes for usmle prep) about what visa i should apply under they again said to apply under B1/B2 as J1 is a residency or research visa and its not given easily. So i applied with the same B1/B2 visa category.i was asked the same intent question and i answered observership at JPK hospital for 2 months.the vo kinda understood that i have changed my letter of enrollment from clinical rotation to observership.so i pacified her saying that since i had problem for clinical rotation since i was a graduate and i applied again for observership(i just requested the hospital to provide with a corrected letter stating observership and that i won?t be paid)Then at the end vo said that I?m qualified but i have applied under wrong visa type.she handed me a 214(b)
I know someone who went for a 4 month observership on a B1/B2.I had to change my testing region from US to India for my usmle step1 and extend exam period.I was advised that i apply under F1 student visa after few months most like in sept/oct for student visa. What can i do to improve my chances of getting it this time ? will me working for a 2-3 months help or anything else i can do ? Please help me !!!
