Visitor visa from India to visit family friends/wife's cousin

Hi,

My wife and I plan to visit the US in September. We have family friends there. Also, my wife's cousin lives there. I am confused as to whom to get the invitation letter from - family friends or my wife's cousin. Whose invitation holds more weight? The family friends are US citizens, my wife's cousin on the other hand has a green card
I am employed here in India and I will sponsor the flights etc myself.

Neither of those invitations carry any weight. It is merely for some self satisfaction that people carry those. The visa officer does not base his/her decisions on it. For that matter you can visit the US without any relatives/friends living there, as most tourists do. The only thing the VO cares for is that you have sufficient ties to the home country, so that you will return back. So anything that demonstrates this (employment, property, parents and family living, etc.) is of value.
