My mom is widow/divorced,but what if we lie that she has spouse....

in the application and during visa interview(i have heard that it's hard to get visa for a widow)...is there any way that VO can prove that we are lying? should i try it at all or tell the truth that she is widow? I badly need my mom to be here for few months...
