Urgent:Visitor Visa-Passort is expiring soon

Hello,my mom came on visitor visa to USA 1 week back and she didn't check the passport date. The passport is expiring in 3 days (June 20)with valid visa until next year.

Please help,this is last time she is visiting us and her health is so so.

She has return date to India in sept,can she go on expired passport?Will the airindia allow her?We tried calling consulate but they said they wont apply visitors passport.

What are my options?

Well, what does it say on her I-94? It probably says she is only admitted until the day her passport expires. She could file I-539 for extension of status but it is unlikely that you guys will be able to prepare and send it and have it received in 2 days, even if you use the fastest mailing method.

As for her return, she can always get a travel document from the Indian consulate for returning to India, even if they cannot give her a regular passport.

Got reply from NY consulate that she can travel one way to India by applying Emergency Certificate(One way travel document) as you said.
