Hi all,
I'm 32, an Indian citizen and in desperate need to go to the US to visit my girlfriend who is on an F1 visa. She is currently interning (started in May, 2018 - on CPT status) and can not come back to India until at least she graduates (she needs to intern for 6 months to earn the required credits to graduate). I have a stable job here in India, have a car, my mother and sister stay with me. I have also booked a flat in my name apart from our family home that is registered in my mother's name. I could also procure a letter from my company stating that I have been granted a leave for the said period.
Do I need an invite from my girlfriend? If so, what should be the format and content of that letter?
On my DS 160 application, I filed for a B2 visa, selected visiting friend as an option and have declared my dates as tentative. I booked a hotel for the entire stay period and have mentioned that as the address of stay. I intend to stay there for around 15 days. My visa interview is scheduled for the end of July.
Accounts of experiences by members here suggest chances are slim if I mentioned that I'll be visiting my girlfriend. It's really scary as this is going to have a huge impact on our relationship. She has been there since August of last year and came down once to India in December 2017. What do you feel are my chances of getting the visa?
Please suggest how can I make my case stronger and if it is advisable to talk about your ties to your homeland and showing proofs without being asked for by the visa officer.
I would really appreciate if you could help me. Thanks in advance.
