B2 visitor visa

I applied non immigrant visa for medical treatment for my mother in law because shehas a history of dementia so applied with my brother in law they had an interview last week July 5 after the interview they handover him 221g green letter and hold their passport asked we need additional information pls submit through email which we did it last Friday July 6 th still waiting for their answer can any one tell me how long its will take still in administrative processing I don't know if yhegave then a visa refusal letter why they hold their passport can any one help pls
