Latest on Passport Delivery times please.

I am hearing many versions on passport delivery times. My MIL is going for visa interview on thursday (8th) in Chennai. And I gave a local (Chennai address) for passport delivery. When can I expect the delivery? She's planning to leave monday night. Is it possible at all?
If not, do I have any options at this stage.

my parents had interview at 8:15 am at chennai consulate and they recieved passport the next day around 2:30 pm. They live in karnataka
