hi!! fellow forum members,
This forum helped during my period of AP so I want to share my experience:
We are a family of 4; myself ,wife & 2 kids ;elder child studying abroad, so applied for 3 at new delhi visa office ;purpose to attend my cousin'swedding
background:all 3 travelled have to Australia (evisa ; No stamps on passport) singapore. My passport renewed a month back : so Blank with NO STAMP

VO assigned to us had already rejected 2 different applications before including a family going for niece's wedding... so nervous
VO: pl. step forward
me: smiled & passed all 3 passports ( atatched all previous passports bound by a RUBBERBAND)
VO: removes all 3 current passports ;scans the barcode thereby opening our Ds160 on his computer & keeps aside our passports
VO; why are you travelling to US ???
Me:To attend my COUSIN'SWedding
Vo: For how many Days?
Me: gave dates of travel xxx march to xxx april
Vo: Do you have any relatives ??
Yes: my xxx uncle
V.O.what does he do??
Me: xxxxx
V.O. reads my forms an asks :so you are attending your NIECE Wedding (trick question) in SF
me:NO ( Very confidently; its my cousin's wedding; My Uncle has 2 houses;official house & work address in SF;but the wedding is in xxx city, we will be going to xxx city,Not to SF ( was carrying wedding card )
Vo: yr Home address
Me : Given
vo: this yr family;Do you have any other children??
me;yes ; elder child... stuyding xxx university xxx country
vo: does she plan to travel with you??
me :No
vo: where have you travelled as a family
me: australia, singapore, malaysia; besides i have travelled to Uk , germany & xxxxx, xxx, xxx,xxx countries in africa for Business
vo: checks Computer... have you travelled to UAE ??( i have travelled ,was mentioned in the ds 160 form: but i forgot to mention)
me: yes travelled but alone to attend a wedding, i point to family... they didn't travel as daughter was unwell)
Vo( now all attentive with folded arms
what do you Do???
Me: we are a iso certified company ,manufacturing xxxx, were earlier selling our products in africa but Now in India ( since all my 10-12 visas in old passport;current was BLANK)
VO:where do you work & what is yr office adress??
me :xxx city & address
VO: (trick question): So you buy raw material from african countries???
me: NO; we buy xxx raw material form india ;We SELL FINISHED Products in africa....since our products more competitive than xxx country... V.o.Smiled)
vo: pointing to my wife;you are a home maker ??
wife :yes
vo: pointing to daughter... you study in which school
daughter : sant xxxx school
vo( trick question): saint xxx school
daughter : NO; SANT xxx school
Vo :typed for eternity; the golden word : Visas GRANTED; ENJOY yr trip to the US
we : thank you;Have a good Day
NOw the wait for Passsports
' issued 'for Wife & daughter on 5th march
Mine: stuck at 'administrative processing "without date change till 18th march;
emailed them :response was a standard generic mail to be be patient
finally status changed to 'issued ' on 20th march
maybe blank passport , still couldn't figure out spent sleepless nights not knowing whther will be able to attend my younger sister's wedding
We all flew on 26th for 20 days of FUN;wedding & sightseeing
MY take on the above process:
BE CONFIDENT; Read yr Ds 160 Form well ;don't fumble with dates, addresses
