My parents went for their b2 visa were asked a few questions about me they answered them all were not asked any documents. I am not F1-OPT and was paying for their trip. My father has a pending criminal case in court which I had clearly mentioned in ds160. They were rejected and given 214b. Assuming that my father's case was a problem, I only applied for my mothers visa again, but it was rejected and she was just asked a few questions about me but again not asked for any documents. I am confused about what reason they have rejected visa. I want to apply again but I am now confused that if I should apply for only my mom or both. My mom is a house wife and dad is a farmer, has house and lots of land on his name. They have enough ties, but they're never been given a chance to demonstrate those, I also have a brother who is India. From DS160 there is only so much you can tell, and with my mother there is no way to show any strong ties.

They are likely to get rejection again, if there is no change in circumstances when you re-apply.
Chances are 50-50 for mother or father applying alone for a visitor visa.
What are other ties to home country, what were the questions asked?
90% of the time, they do not asks for documentations - they rely on their sources of information about you. Documents are asked only when they do not get information from their sources - but one should always keep documents handy during the interview.- I am not an Attorney, hence not giving any legal advice. The case if about a fight between two groups of people and was lodged against all my family and even relatives who were not even present including my father. Questions asked were: What does your daughter do? Where did she study? What do you do? My mother had answered all the questions correctly, but they just said like last time we can't issue a visa to you. The circumstances will never changes as mother has been and will be a house wife and my dad a farmer. My father has land, house and also co owns a hotel. My mother can show land as her property. I have seen lot of my other friends with single mother's who are housewives too get a visa. I am just not sure what the reason is because her interview went well according to her. So if it's something in the form the only thing I think can change is - should they sponsor themselves? Or I should ask my husband who is on H1B and reputed company to sponsor as my company is a small company. I know them going together is better with my father's case I don't want that to be the reason.
You mother being a housewife is not a problem at all. She applying alone is treated as potential immigrant or moving to support grand-children (indirectly "working" as baby-sitter).
Did VO asked them about your family planning? Did your mother said she is planning to visit you, so that she can help you with your baby-sitting?
In my opinion, Self sponsor is a big plus always. I134 is not a legally bounding document.- I am not an Attorney, hence not giving any legal advice. Just sharing MY opinion with an intent to help others.
