  • B2 VISA - Need Help - Planning to bring my mom and dad here on Feb'19.

    Hi,

I am new to this forum.
I am in H1B visa and staying in US for last 3years. My VISA is going to be end on 05/01/19. I am planning to bring my mom and dad here on Feb'19.

Want to know something from you guys..
? I am going to sponsor/invite them to come here. Please let me know the detailed procedure for this.
? As I came to know I need to submit a bank issued letter about my account balance to them that I am well capable enough to bring them here, what amount should I have in my bank account and for how many days?
? My mom and dad are doing nothing over there, I am the earnest member in the family, so they doesnt have much account balance over there. What are docs they need to prepare for the interview.
? When will I get the interview date after I submit the DS160 form? They are from Kolkata, so anyone here who can help me on this?

Any information regarding this would highly appreciated!!

    Thanks!!

I was having same case like you, Recently I filed for my parents and they got the visa. If sponsoring,
-You should be having 5000$ per person in your bank account.
-Get a letter from your bank(having current balance , date of opening n other details) and latest 3 months bank stmts
-proof of employment and 3 months salary slips
    ??prepare a invitation letter,
?you may have to fill I-134 form ( stating ur income and details of dependents).. VO won?t ask for docs as they have all ur info n will just go by verbal confirmation during interview but just in case .
Length of stay is fine for 1 month or 3 months for parents

If ur father is retired or no income .. then can say they don?t have income n totally dependent on you but have savings in forms of FDs , Cash deposits in bank, properties ( to show some home ties)

My two cents on above note, I134 is not a legally binding document, so give that to your parents, but let him present it only, when asked.

If will be better if they can show that they are self sponsoring their visit - that is paying for the tickets on their own & will stay with you.

Showing that they are dependent on you will be risky. Rather they can say they have their own savings or gift from you to survive. Income of some sort (rent from property, income of saving interest, pension etc) will be even better.

Thanks guys for your valuable inputs on it.

As I told earlier, My Mom/Dad are doing nothing over there and my Dad neither have much account balance (My Mom doesnt have any bank account) nor and FDs. Will it be a good idea to put $10k in my Dad's account and ask them to self-sponsored the trip or should I sponsor their trip?

I mean to say, which one is the good option 'Self Sponsored' or 'Sponsored' ? (I personally wants to go with sponsored)
What is the rejection rate of 'Sponsored' from Kolkata?
For How many days I need to keep $10K in my account/my dad's account? Is 3 months a good time-frame - as they look at last 3months bank statement?
If I submit DS160 on Dec'18, when will I get approx appointment date? Anyone here from Kolkata who can help me on this?

        Thanks!!

I would again say, self sponsored is better. Yes, you can put money in your father's bank account & then let them go for visa. However VO can ask for his IT returns.

You can fill in DS160 right now & take an appointment of January right now.

Could you please suggest me, if my Mom and Dad needs to show their marriage certificate in interview?

              I don't think so.

Remember when you filled-in your visa application form, you filled your parents name & DOB, generally their passport is matched with those dates. It proves that they are married & your parents.

Please also check, if those dates are different & this is causing their visa to be denied.
