  • MOM visa rejected second attempt.

My mom visa rejected first time under 214(b).
Second time vO rejected under 214(b) without asking any questions. The time gap between two interviews was 1 and half months.I explained in a bulletin letters that my mom has unmmaried son in india, grand mother and working in government company. But nothing works. This process is ridiculous and parents are loosing confident about this process.
My mom is widow that means she can't come here to see me that is so ridiculous.

Is anybody knows when they are opening hyderabad consulate?

Some body please suggest me that when should i take appointment next time?(6 months or 1 year).

Sorry to hear that but based on users' exprience of this forum, I think she will get it in next attempts.

I think one and half months was too early for the second interview from VO point of view.

Try next time with a gap of ~ 6months.

read the exp/tips from users' of this forum

Hyd center is abt to open in early 2008 I think.

mine is the same case, it is really frustrating , i think we need to take some steps to write about this to the embassay. I wrote a letter asking cant a widow Mom come to US ? this really bad policy of US Embassy in India.
I hope there was some person who can listen to our feelings to see our Mother here with us.

My mom is 51 years old.She has 9 years of service working in Ap government company. My brother is studying Mtech in Inida.VO asked my mother that he has any plans to go on H1 she said no(in her first interview). If you tell truth nothing works in india.I think my case VO concentrated about my brother qualification in first interview. In the second interview she is trying to explain that she has job, property but VO did even ask single question.

To whom you wrote letter to asking can't a widow Mom come to US ? I will also write letter to the appropriate people. Please let me know.
This ridiculous process. This so hurtful to the parents.

            Dont get disheartened

My mom is a widow. She still got a 10 year visa in the first attempt 10days back. They were looking for strong ties and who is financing her in India and US.

              member1,
I wrote a email to the email which is available on their web site, but there is no use with that ,i got back a reply from them saying "we look for strong ties in India and do everything according to the policies" and they just told re appy

But that is not true, because we had a good amount of bank balance + house affidavit in my Mother's name as well my Mother had her NOC (No objection certificate from her office. We who sponsored also sufficient bank balance. But no documents were seen. Just rejected because she is a widow and may be because the age is <60 and she is working. But this is really bad and the US Counsulate should change their process and let the poor parents to see their children here . Thet should be considerate for parents atleast.

              Harry,
If you dont mind can you please let us know if your Mother is more that 60 years old, because I have 1 more friend and her Mother also got the visa but she is 62 years old and not working anywhere.

parents got visa after 3 attempts

do not worry ..just keep trying.
my parents visa got approved the first time for a year and they went back to India on time before expiry of I94.
They reapplied for another visit to the US they got rejected twice and finally got approved the 3rd time.
The 3rd time the visa officer did not even bother to look at the papers , nothing had changed between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd interview.
The first 2 times the visa was rejected due to reason 214B and that both children are present in the US . For the 1st interview the officer did not even bother to check any of the paperwork and had rejected it saying that both children are in the US, during the second interview a lady with a head scarf had grilled them with questions for about 30 mins and had rejected them for the same reason mentioning that both children are in the US.
For the 3rd interview in which the visa got approved both children were still present in the US so it just does not make any sense as to why they would reject the first 2 times. In fact , everyone was so exhausted and depressed with all the paper work prepration and unnecessary expense of about Rs. 20,000 ($400) for visa rejections that for the 3rd interview we kept the same I134 document from the 2nd interview and this time they did not even bother to check anything but granted a visa.

Make sure that you conduct mock interviews for your parents the questions asked are always almost the same, make sure that your address is updated with the INS, make sure that the passport office in India has the correct address of your parents.

Just keep trying and you will have daylight at the end of the tunnel.

my moms - single parent.. got rejected thrice

my moms visa is rejected thrice now. first she applied in feb 2005, then in june 2005 and now again in june 2006.
third time, we even appointed an auditor who evaluated my moms assets in india and produced all these to the officers. my mom owns a home, owns a land and has savings deposits in diff banks. she has tenants from which she is earning the income.

my mom is a single parent and both me and my brother are here in US on deputation. but being a single parent doesnt mean that she cannot come for tourism purposes, right.

Forget the monetary part, just imagine the trouble that the elders take when they have to travel to consulte office (in my mom's case from kerala to chennai) and then wait in the queue for 3 hours (mind u.. she should not carry any food item) and then sit in front of the officer, let him drill as much as he can and then finally get rejected. Is this the way US govt promote tourism?

i felt the officer was rude when he said she is rejected visa for financial reasons. this is absolutely ridiculous.

Any advice on this is highly appreciated
                      Thx

                        Mom got visa this time

                        All Members here,
We were so much worried and fed up with the procedures to apply for visa. My Mother almost lost hopes and she said she does not want to apply for visa again. But I forced her to apply and 4th time she got the visa valid for 1 year. I am happy that atleast now she can come and see us.
My Father passed away 10 years back and as per most of them tell, this might have been the reason for rejection last 3 times. But this time I wrote a letter to the Senator and she emailed Chennai office, requesting to grant visa.I also personally wrote a letter highligting the reason why my Mom will go back to India.
So we dont know which reason was helpful. But atleast she got the visa this time for 1 year.
Thanks to all immihelp team and everyone posting here.If anyone needs help I am always ready to help because I know how it feels when our Mom's visa is rejected. So lets try to help each other.

                        Thanks,
                        MSR

It was 1st time in 2002 Oct (2 years gap) then
2nd time 2004 Sep (6 months gap )then
                            3rd time - Mar 2005 ( more than 1 year gap ) then

                            4th time - Aug 2006

We gave enough time interval between the interviews . I dont think all that matters , its just pure timing and our luck , because 1st 3 times we prepared all docs with hopes and interest and they did not see any of the documents. This time we did not take much care to prepare the docs , just having no interest or hopes at all , but this time all docs were checked and visa is granted for 1 year. But we had all the docs perfect all the times .But what happened is this time , we were so annoyed to go through the process of doc collecting ect and just did it for the sake of it and luckily go it!

                              Tips

If u have any Brother / Sister in India , tell u'r Mom to try to focus her answers more on that .

If both kids in US then may be she can tell about old parents or own house ect .

                              I think this helps
