    Is I-134 really required?
Has anyone gotten the B2 visa without this.

I am a green card holder and I have a job. My wife owns a house and so we don't pay rent.

Does the US B2 Visa document list actually have I-134 listed ?

Appreciate any pointers. Thank you very much

No. I134 for a non-immigrant visa is useless, but people do it just for their satisfaction.

I134 does not legally bound the issuer to provide support for the sponsored, hence it has no value.

As scientist2016 mentioned, people do it for their own satisfaction. However self sponsor is better for B2 visa.

Has anyone seen visa rejection if I-134 is not provided???

Hello, I have seen a similar thread but wanted to clarify (sorry) -

I have submitted D-160 for my parents B1/B2 visa for the 2nd time as the earlier 10 year visa was expired and we missed 1 year mark. We have received interview date now. I'll be sending the invitation letter and have clearly mentioned in their D-160 that its me (child) who is sponsoring their trip.

I'm a US citizen and wanted to know if we can do without I-134 & supporting documents (bank statements /proof of income etc)??? My parents are old and the I-134 and supporting documents has so many personal details - which I'm really NOT comfortable sending out there - what if it falls under wrong hands or someone mis-uses it - its India after all!

Has anyone encountered a situation where parents Visa was rejected as I-134 & supporting documents was not provided??

Thank you for your comments /advise.

Useless to copy/paste same question at multiple thread across the forum.

Are you trying to invite your parents to visit here? Do they have enough money to visit the US on their own? If yes, they do it themselves.

However, in most cases, parents are unable to pay for their US trip. It is the son/daughter paying for the same.

In that case, I recommend you complete I-134 and provide the proof of income along with it. I don't see any harm in providing it.

Do you have any concerns about providing it?

Thanks, they can afford it but I have already submitted their D-160 application saying I will pay for it. I dont mind sending one of the bank statement with proof of sufficient funds but I-134 has whole bunch of additional details infact lot of personal details which i am not comfortable sending overseas - again in case it falls under wrong hand and someone misuses it.

Will just one back statement and an invitation letter be sufficient?

99% of the time, VOs don't ask for ANY documentation for the parents.

They know your parents based on the visa application forms you submitted.
