  • B1 Visa got denied. On the 10th Oct. 2018

I was so prepared for the interview and waited till the D.day. I even got to the embassy earlier before my time,
my appointment time was stated 1:15pm which I got to the embassy 8:42am under the rain.

Immediately past 11:30 am afternoon batch were called in which we went in for checkups and
verification of our required documents after which we were asked to move into the other side where the interviewer await the applicants.

    The interview went thus;

CO. with a smile, good morning
    A. Good afternoon sir,
    CO. Oh its already afternoon.

CO. So what is your purpose for visiting US? after I had passed on my Passport
    A. am visiting for a conference and tried to present my papers

CO. Don't worry all I need are already on the system, will let you know when they are needed.
    CO. Where do you?

    A. I am working with the University of Ibadan
CO. And what do you do there?

    A. I serve a Secretary and Social Media Manager for the UI Radio
CO. How long have been with UI?

    A. 7 years now
CO. OK, so are you married?

    A. Yes sir I'm married with 2kids and my wife just gave birth last 2month
CO. Good, congrats. So why were you appointed for the conference?

    A. As the station secretary and social media manager they see me fit for the conference sir.
CO. And UI is the one sponsoring the trip?

    A. Yes sir.
CO. Alright Mr---- am sorry you are not qualified to enter the us now but you can find all the reasons stated her.
    Do have a nice day.
without him looking at all my proved documents or telling reasons of the rejection, I was discharged and
same thing too he did to other 10 applicant before me. But i noticed other Consular were checking documents
but this other guy wasn't and left me with a question, " is this proper"?

I was quiet for a while and then stepped out.
after getting home, written on the printed paper was that as a non-immigrant applying for B1 should have a residents either a family, business partner, professional, school or friends
before someone can be eligible to apply for B1/B2 and I want ask how true is this or is it their trick to discharging people?
And I want to know how long can I wait to reapply?

Thank you for all your immediate response. Save a soul.

Your eligibility is not defined by the papers you bring at the interview, neither the interview alone. There are several other factors also considered to approve your visa.

Probably, VO did not found the conference worth enough, or your company/university is not that good enough to sponsor someone to USA, etc etc (list is long) - you are the best one to judge your own situation.

In most cases for B visas - they do not ask for any documentations (however applicant should always carry all of them), rather prefer to verify your profile based on their own system. They do certainly check multiple paper for other visas & quite possible that other windows might be giving other visas.

Trust me, they do not approve or deny visas based on their on wish or will.
