  • Need to process B2 Visa for my in-laws- Need to know about questions being asked!

    Dear All,

I want to process a B2 visa for my in-laws. We are almost done with documentation part with a help of an agent in Bangalore and appointment will be taken in a few days. Can anyone of you please let me know the questions being asked in the interview process.

    1. The reason they are coming in, my wife is pregnant(their daughter). I came to know from some of my friends that, we should not tell pregnancy as a reason.

Can anyone throw some light on what all the questions they would ask and how to answer them?

    Thanks in advance,
    Vijay

Yes, do not share pregnancy as reason for the visit. Have them learn name of few cities near your place to visit.

        Hello,
On the contrary your in-laws "should" indicate their daughter's pregnancy. Let them know that both the daughter and their son-in-law are in the U.S by themselves, and they need their family to be able to take care of their daughter & new born. Baby sitting is a big chore in the U.S and elderly family members are often welcome, many such people have visited the U.S due to their daughters & sons. It's best that that they stay honest and mention this. Mentioning another city for sight seeing is secondary ; they can even indicate that they are mainly going for the daughter and upcoming baby ; and towards the end of the their visit they get some sight seeing, it's fine, but not so important. Keep stressing the fact that a few weeks after the baby is born that your in-laws will come back to India (...immigration people love to hear people wanting to come back after a short visit to the U.S).

In regards to what questions they ask....most of them will be B.S like ; hand your passport, why the visit to the U.S (mention above) ; what city are you going to (....tell them the city name + state...so if it is Lincoln...don't just say Lincoln as there is a town named Lincoln in 20 different states...) ; financial support (take bank balance statements, other proof like home equity, possibly stock holdings etc and support from daughter in $$ if applicable etc)., length of visit ; etc...all of these questions your in-laws should be able to handle with ease.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.
