Visiting Canada from US-I-94 issue

Hi,

I want to know the entry/exit procedure while visiting Canada. My parents are flying from US to Canada for sightseeing for couple of weeks. I read that they won't get a new I-94. My questions:

1. Does this mean that while departing US, their I-94 wont be be taken at the US airport? While entering back into US, will they enter with their old I-94?

2. What do we do if their I-94 is taken at the US airport?

I just wanted to give them a heads up on what to expect and what they need to be aware of while going in & out of the country. Anyone with previous experiences, it would be really helpful if you share with the group.

Thanks immihelp for your reply. As you mentioned, they asked my parents at the airport if they were going to return back to US before going to India. Since they told Yes, they did not take their I-94. So, they will enter back into US with their old I-94 itself.
