If ever I acquire my F-1 visa while i'm here in america (change of status from b-2 to f-1). And after sometime, I have to go home to my country due to a family emergency. Is it true that I may encounter entry problems in getting into the US again because I got my F-1 here in the US and not in my home country where it is supposed to be given? I've heard that I might encounter re-entry problems because there is no F-1 stamp in my passport. (f-1 visa acquired here in the US are not stamped into the passport but in the new I-94 and I-20 documents only).

Hi, I am in the same boat as you are. You can get a f1
1. without living US through a change of status or
2. by leaving US and getting your passport stamped, this can be done in India, canada, mexico etc.
However if you take the first option and move to F1 without leaving US then anytime you leave US You will have to get your passport stamped. using the first option will likely create problems because in India it will be difficult to get immedite appointment and you may have to wait upto 4 months. However you can try in canada where its easier to get early appointment.
