date on I-94

Hi,
When my parents entered the US the officer at POE entered the date of
10/31/06 on I-94, but my parents flight back to India is on 11/01/06.
Can they overstay for a day ? Kind of weird cause the officer looked at
itineary and somehow wrote 10/31/06 on I-94.

Overstaying is not advisable. As I-94 is valid upto mid night on the given date (11:59 PM on 10/31 in your case), and if the flight just after midnight, just make sure that you cross the immigration counter before midnight
