Looking for a job in US with a Visitors Visa

Currently my girlfriend is living in Venezuela and is finishing up her Bachelors degree in Accounting. We are looking to find a way for her to immigrate to the US without getting married. We would like to have more time together before marriage and therefore want a way for her to immigrate with another visa first and then talk about marriage. This way we do not have that little marriage visa thing hanging over our heads for the rest of our lives.

Currently she holds a visitors visa and we were thinking of her coming to the US for the six month period and looking for a job during that period. Though I have been looking on the web for ways to make this easy and I need to say my head is spinning.

Can any one help me or suggest ways that she can start the working visa process now or ways to make it easy for her to look when she is in the states? I am not sure if she starts to apply for jobs in the US with a visitor’s visa if they will take her serious or not. Will they?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I think it is against law to work on Visitor visa

Hi Tomfeely,

Have her come here first, and then have her scope for the jobs. Depending on what line of career she is in, she might get someone to sponsor H1 (a working visa) for her job.

Otherwise, though it's extremely risky the way things are going on with non-immigrants working illegally, she migh tfind resistance from employers to work on her visitors visa, unless someone wants to pay in cash.
