  • My in-laws got Visa in first attempt @ Chennai consulate on 06/22

First of all, I would like to thank you all for this forum, which is very helpful.

We paid the fee @ HDFC in second week of Feb’06 and got the appointment date as Jun’22. (For 1-2 weeks I tried to advance the date and gave up as no dates were available and I wanted them to be here by mid Jul.)

At that time no dates were available in Telugu, so my in-laws wanted me take appointment in English but I was not 100% confident for them going for English… even then the appointment was confirmed .

I had sent all the sponsor’s documents per this site and templates for visitors’ documents. They carried these documents as two separate sets, one with cover sheet “Sponsor’s Documents” and other with “Visitor’s Documents”. The next page in each set was Table of contents, which outlines the documents included in that set and a “post-it” attached to each document.

In addition to this I prepared audio CD of expected questions (thanks to SS92) in American accent (using Text to Speech s/w); think really this helped for them to understand the accent.

At the interview they were asked just 2 questions to FIL and none to MIL.

Q1. How many children do you have?
    FIL: 4
    Q2. What is your income?
    FIL: YYYY per annum

It seems the VO was an American lady and after that she asked for documents, so FIL gave the sponsor’s document and it seems that she just had a glance at these and said “go and pay the fee, your visa granted, you will get passport in 4 working days” and that’s it.

My FIL is having business, MIL is homemaker,

Thanks a lot to Immihelp(Administrator), Dahlia(Raj), Visachief and other members of this forum for continuous support and help.

    I am happy now….

    Thanks
    Ram Kumar Koditala

That was a breeze!! congrats. Do you think that because you prepared the documents meticulosuly the VO saw them and was convinced , so did'nt need many questions? I am suprised VO did'nt ask howm many of the 4 children are in India.

            Thank you...

SS92 is member of this forum, who compiled bunch of expected questions for visitor visa. (http://www.immihelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14757)
I converted the above questions to audio using Text to Speech

XP-> Control Panel -> Speech -> Text to Speech -> Type some text and click Preview voice.

                    Hi RK,
What did your inlaws do for insurance?? Do you have any idea of how much will it cost for insurance for 5 months. How long does it take to arrange for insurance. My mom got the visa too and we need to take insurance for her and we are booking her tickets for july 10th. is it possible to get the insurance with in that time.
                    Thanks!!

                      Yes, you can take.
Iam planning to go with one comp called INBOUNDUSA that is advertised with
Visitors insurance for relatives visiting USA, international travel medical insurance for tourists, international students, exchange visitors, new immigrants and travel insurance

For my inlaws it is costing ~ $600 for 6 months FIL 53 and MIL 47.
I think monthly premium based on the age of the person.
What I believe, once the insurance process is completed, they wld be sending the details by email and it may take couple of days to get actual card, but still good to go with number you got in email.
Call agent/check website for more details

                          Hi,

My mother has same problem, she did not get appointment in Telugu or kannada. I am helping her prepare for the interview in English. What cd did u send to your inlaws? Can you please specify where you found it. I am looking to send something from online which trains her for American accent. Since her visa appointment is in NOV. Please help.

                          Thanks a lot!
