  • B2 Visa for Parents

    All,

I got my H1b visa stamped last month and yet to travel to the USA, my intended date of travel is April, 2019. My parents are retired and they are dependent on me, hence I am willing to travel with my parents. I am planning to apply B2 Tourist visa for them but I am confused on what will be the best time to apply for B2 visa for them:

    1) Can I apply B2 visa for my parents before I travel to the USA? In this case will there be a chance of rejection since I am yet to travel to the USA?

    2) In general, what is the rejection rate of B2 visa for parents (aged above 60)?

Please let me know on this. Thanks a lot!

Yes,, having you never used your visa yet certainly reduce their chances of getting the visa - but its not impossible. If all other things are in place for your parents (ties to home country), they can still get the visa easily.

    Pretty rare for rejection.

Thanks for the response. My Parents are retd. govt employees, in this case what will be the best way to proof ties with home country? And what all they scrutinize (apart from ties with home country) for approving a Tourist Visa? Please let me know.

Property in home country, bank balance, other kids in home country are few best ways to prove ties.

For scrutiny they verify if the person will return back to home country or not - so as long as you can prove that you'll return, visa will be issued to you easily.

Thanks, this information really helps. Will they need to carry supporting documents if they claim of property in home country or bank balance? May the consulate officer ask them to present these documents?

          Thanks.

Mostly they do not ask to see any documents, however it better to carry all possible documents rather feeling sorry later.

For property, you can have ownership title & for bank balance, carry bank statement for last 3-4 months.
