You need to prove strong ties to your home country to get the B2 visa (surety that you'll go back to your home country).

Frankly, its really difficult for an unmarried, young engineer, without any other travel history to get tourist visa.

Well I have learnt my Lesson. I have another conference for November as well , the same Oil and gas conference. And another in Brazil.. Maybe I should visit the one for Brazil and come back before Applying again for the one for USA . Don't you think so?

Thats not the only thing, your marital status, total experience etc. will also improve your chance of getting the visa.
