SELF SPONSORED tourist visa

I have an appointment for VISA interview in two weeks.
I wish to visit USA for purely tourism purpose.
One of my relatives in the US was suppose to sponsor my trip (on DS-156)
I have business in India and I can sponsor it myself for me and my family
Though they are willing to say that they can sponsor me on I-134, their bank accounts does not show enough funds ($1000). They have a decent job though.

Can I at this point choose to sponsor for myself?
Can I do the following:

1. Change the DS-156 - sponsor name as SELF
2. Still submit I-134 signed by them with some bank balance on it.
3. Submit their other financial records(tax, visa status, job proof and bank)
4. Submit my own financial docs (property, bank, business docs, etc)

Please respond soon as I have to change the DS-156 accordingly.

If they don't have enough financial resources to sponsor, there is no point in providing I-134 form.

You just put your own documents.
