  • Plz help- Father's Visa

My Parents attended their interview on June 13th..my mom got her visa but they gave a pink slip for my father. He was asked who will take care of his properties while he visits US and he had replied he had given that responsibility to his brothers and thats it..he was issues a Pink Slip and asked to check the status on web.
I am very much bothered how could this question have such an impact?

I was checking the staus on http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/adminprocess.html but it still shows last updated on July 12 2006 where the website says they update the status daily.

Can anyone help me to findout how long it will take for the stauts to get updated and how will they process a visa when a pink slip is given

    Thanks,
    Tina Raj

That's what they say that they update every day.

Now, if they don't update some days, there is no way internally know what is going on.

              Msg for Tine_Raj

My father experienced the same scenario as your father is facing it took 5 months for them to give us a decision and luckily it was a positive one and he got the visa so advise is not to get frustrated and just hang in there
They take their usual time to process Hope this helps

                  dear tina,

my folks went for thier interview in jan,06, the consulate gave the same damn reasponse, admin processing and check the web site, it's july now, still no response.

My patience is also worn out. Basically they update the status of the admin process every alternate day, Monday's, wed's, and maybe fridays. Otherwise mostly, monday's and wed's.

Thanks for the updates NewYorker....when i went through some of the threads i found that in administrative processing they verify some doucments or something of that kind....but for my father..the consulate had placed his DS156,DS157,HDFC reciept and Interview appointment letter along with the same set of documents for my mother(since my mom was granted a visa they took her passport and draft) in the same pouch, other than that chennai consulate is having no other document to verify or they never ever asked any documents to verify during the interview.

Just confused in such a case how will they process this case and to what conclusion would they arrive at....and i am here on a L1B visa so will my visa status and my current employer also would matter for their decision?

Is there a phone number where i can call and check status?

                    Please advice

As far i know, it doesnt matter if they have any of the documents that you were willing to give them. They do so called "security check", how they do, what they do, wht's the process....as civilians we'll never know. But surely, most of the security checks are done by Dept of state, Washington DC.

From ur question, seems lik eyour papa is a agriculturist, it's not like he works for Army, navy or anyother govt dept, so....it cant be said why they give pink, blue or yellow slips to the applicants. In my opinion, i think they check the sponsor's employment, i'm not sure but it's a guess.

It's very disheartening, i know....keep us posted on those threads as well, incase u hear anythign from them.

Tina, which consulate did ur folks go to ? My parents went to Chennai. Out of despair and confusion of the meaning of the status, i emailed them every week, then every alternate week, now i've stopped. Everytime, I'd get the standard response, you have to wait until the process is completed OR Your father will be notified once the process in completed.

I even read on Chennai ...well read on what they say

"“Pending process”: Your case is still pending administrative processing. We CANNOT issue the visa prior to completing this processing. We CANNOT waive this processing for any applicant. This is not a matter of missing documents and is in no way related to the number of times an individual may have been able to obtain visas or enter the U.S. in the past. If your case is “Pending Process”, please DO NOT contact the Consulate or you may risk delaying the administrative processing of your visa."

I totally dont understand the line i've underlined. It's like a threat that "oh well, the more u contact the more we'll delay"

However, I sincerely hope your process will be completed sooner.
