    Thanks NewYorker.
Delhi embassy kept my father's passport and dd as well when he had interview in June'06.

Is there a link for pending cases for delhi as i have seen link for Chennai?

Hi Newyorker and others..I have been reading your posts and your interactions with tina.I too am facing the same problem. My parents had their visa interview on dec 18 2006 at delhi and like in ur case my mother was given a 10 yr visa but my fathers ppt was returned to him along with a yellow 221g and he was told that they would get in touch with him.My dad is 64 and retired ann i have an elder sister.Whats interesting is tha t hat my parents were interviewed by a lady VO but after getting 221g as soon as my father came out of the consulate my sister called from my home in a neighbouring state and told my father that someone had called our house from the US consulate and wanted to confirm my grandparents(fathers parents) names which my sister had provided. All this happened within 5-10 minutes of the interview. Its been almost 4 weeks now and my dad is still waiting for a call from the consulate and is still in delhi hoping for a call.My mother has meanwhile arrived here.My dad called the consulate twice and was told that it usually takes 5-6 weeks for the adm process to be completed but the people answering the calls appeared to be indian so i am not sure how much they know about the whole thing/process.Your experience seems to suggest otherwise as ur and tinas cases seem to have taken a much longer time.Do u think i should call the state dept or should wait for the 5-6 week period as told to my dad by the people taking the calls in the consulate.Plz advise. Thanks

hi snb..read abt ur father's visa..i understand how stressful it is as i have also experienced the same.Dont give up...the wait time differs from case to case.It took nearly 5 - 6 months for my father to get his visa, but i have seen cases where they have posted that it came out in 45 dayz but that was for a differnt visa type guess it was h1. It is alwayz good that you have a follow up with them. I have heared and seen cases abt pink and blue handouts but not sure abt any yellow slip..i am not sure if it has to do something with fingerprints processing..did u recieve any email reply from us embassy?

Hi Tina. Thanks for your reply. It was very reassuring.Yes my father was given a yellow/orange slip at the delhi consulate.probably the colour of the paper being used might be different in delhi as comp.to chennai. Were u able to assess the reason why your father was given 221g.Also when did u first call the dept of state in washington and how is their response. Are they forthcoming with any information or do they get irked by the enquiries.Plz let me know. thanks again

              Hello snb,

Even though you have message for Tina. I don't have a great luck with US embassy Delhi or US state dept. Either of them don't give the details especially state dept. My father's immigration visa is still pending, its been over 6 months. You can call at 202-663-1225 and talk to visa specialist. These visa specialists are 3rd party agency. They just looked at the comments. In my father's case, state dept sent the report after 4 months because I was following up every week but Delhi embassy needs more information so I guess I have to wait maybe for 4 more months. It is so depressing. When the case is for back ground check, you can't even get help from lawyers.
Every case is different. In my father's case he had Green card but then he didn't come back for years so I had to file again so it might be more complicated. When I call state dept they say it is because of common last name my father use.
In your case, I suggest you to communicate with US embassy Delhi and then go from there. Do you know what the problem is? If so, then you can contact state dept.

              Hopefully this helps.

                New Yorker,

I have checked the US embassy New Delhi website, I haven't seen the pending cases list. I wish they have same as Chennai. That helps alot and you can go from there. I wonder why don't they have.

maybe due to lack of resources, that Delhi consulate doesnt have thepdf on the site. But again it's only a guess. But, i wonder if the chennai consulate includes cases of other consulates on it's web site, just a thought again.

Any help/ifo please.

                    Regards

                      Dear snb...

The VO did not give any reason for why they gave a 221g for my father...the questions that were asked to my father was plain and simple like what he was doing, why he wants to go types..and then they gave him the slip...since my father was confused with that new procedure which i had not updated him that might be a condition that he cud likely face ..he totally lost the track and did not ask for any reason..which he later realised he should have done. When calling the state dep..it was more like a customer support process where they got the passport number and just said that its still under processing and would consulate would get back to the applicant. but you can try your luck..all the best.

Thinking of various sources of getting a proper information of cases like what we are facing or faced..i could list writing email to the respective embassy to check on the status, calling up the state dept for the status, you could contact your senator or congress men to have follow up on your case with the ins...but all these would require patience..patience is what is needed more in our cases...at times it would be frustrating but a regular follow up would surely bring fruit...one of my frnd also had a similar case his mom was given a pink slip and he followed up regularly and then one day he came to know that the embassy has not send any reminder to state dept to check on the case and that is the reason it was still pending....then he worte a mail to the emabassy asking for followup and they did and his mom got his visa last month...so a push can be happen from any the sources we are trying to contact...so dont loose hope...keep trying ...may be mark on ur calendar for this recurring task...it would surely help.

Hope this will work out. By the way, how are ur folks feeling abt all this.
                            hi newyorker,

am also in the same situation. my dad & mom went for interview on may 2008, but only my mom got visa and for my dad they gave pink slip. From ur thread, i called up the consulate in US and they told its still under processing. But the status is still pending. I was trying to figure out what this senator means. In india, we dont have senators. So whom are u referring to as senator in ur post.
                            Please help ..

                              Tina,

i mailed the chennai ins, but all i got back is an automated reply from them telling no need to contact the consulate, it will be processed. Felt so depressed. Dont know what to do. My father got a pink slip in May 2008 and still its pending. My parents went together but only my mom got visa. When my dad asked for the reason, the guy just told some regular security check. I had called up the US consulate here but didnt get any good response. Just told that its still processing...

People in certain jobs are checked more closely than others especially since 9/11 attacks. He was not outright rejected so there is some hope.
