DS-156 correction and regarding sending passport to Mumbai consulate

Dear Friends,

My Dad’s interview is scheduled at Mumbai consulate on 17th Aug.

Can some one please help clarify if we need to send Original Passport to
consulate atleast 5 days prior to interview or a photocopy is fine ?

Secondly, my Late Mother’s name is misspelled in DS-156 visitor doc,
How can we correct it?

Please help suggesting.

If you cannot correct online, take a printout and highlight corrections, carry both docs to consulate and explain when asked for
