  • All children in USA, questions regarding parents visa

    Hello Immihelp seniors,

I would like to explain my situation here, I don't believe it is any unique but I would like to get few things cleared:

    1. My brother and I both are in USA, working and my brother would like to show financial support. In that case, what all documents are required from me? We've mentioned in DS-156 that son/daughter in USA on H1-B. Do I need to send invitation letter and letter to consulate for my parents visa?

    2. What should my parents mention in their affidavit i.e. whether they are invited by both of their children? or just mention about sponsorer?

    3. My father has retired from his duties last year, will that cause any problem? My father is registered farmer, but we do not have cultivated land and for that matter of fact not much of a land. Still, will it help if we mention in my father's affidavit that 'My father has plans of farming' which has but nothing substantial yet. My concern is, if we tell that my father is a pensioner and has house, land, LIC etc. but no other source of income and other family engagement then visa officer may suspect him as a potential immigrant. So we wanted to show some other source of income. Is it a good idea at all? or we should wait untill my father really gets into farming? I mean should we mention my fathers future plans in his affidavit or not? If he couldn't pursue his plans then will it affect for next visa interview, or renewal?

    4. My brother should fill 2 seperate I-134, right?

    5. Also, my parents should send application and support documents in 2 seperate envelopes, right?

Please guide me through this process,

    thanks a bunch in advance,

    your passport copies, H1 copy...

    No need
    2. What should my parents mention in their affidavit i.e. whether they are invited by both of their children? or just mention about sponsorer?
they can say "invited by both of you and sponsored by son"
    3. My father has retired from his duties last year, will that cause any problem? My father is registered farmer, but we do not have cultivated land and for that matter of fact not much of a land. littile tricky here... he can say farming as future plan
    4. My brother should fill 2 seperate I-134, right?
    yes

If they are going together, one envelope should be fine; always you can have separators to distinguish documents
Please guide me through this process,

All children in USA, questions regarding parents visa

      This raises another question.
Does a retired parent necessarily need to show future plans and other sources of income than pension and savings?
Do they need to write in their affidavit or does the sponsor need to mention it in the letter to consulate.

There is no such rule that a parent should show their future plans or their source of income. But it proves the strong ties for them that they are financially strong enough. In your case it is even more important since both children are in US.

          Thanks guys for your response!

I think I would like to write about my father's plan, but as RK has said it is tricky, I'm still thinking if my father couldn't generate revenue through farming till next interview, is it going to be a problem? What do you guys think?

One more thing, if my father writes 'farming' as future plan then I think my brother should also mention in his letter to consulate, i.e. to prove why my parents will return to India, is that right?

One question, generally what is ther % of getting parents getting visa when all the children are in USA? Any idea?

          Thanks,
