hi,
i am living in US on h-4 visa and my husband is on h1(software professional),my brother is working in uk on temporory basis i.e 2 yrs .he wants to visit me in us and going to apply for tourist visa in us embassy in uk.what are the documents he needs to submit ?? who should sponser his visa?? what are the chances if he sponsers his visa himself??? how many pounds/dollars can he show?? any help would be appreciated!!thank in advance!!

It is always better to sponsor oneself, if one can, as the consulars think
that financially independent people are more likely to return. Also, if a young working man shows financial sponsorship from his relatives for a short trip to US, it is a bad indicator to the officer who will think that he might stay back in US for a better job, when he can't even afford a trip to US from his job
in UK.

Ususally the interviewing officers judge the applicant's financial status from his/her
annual income from his occupation and may look more at the tax returns rather than the saving's account, which can be bloated up by borrowing money.But he should still be ready with a reasonably healthy statement.

There is another factor in your bro's case , that is the temporary nature of his job in uk which may go against him. He should be able to show ties to India like family or future career plans and should give the impression that
he will return to India after his temp job in UK. Any displayed intent to stay permanently in UK may as well be interpreted as an intent to live in US.

Documents;
You may find a list on US embassy's website.
Briefly, he will require an invitation letter from you,on your letterhead, addressed to the consular, US embassy, stating your visa status, work status, and that you are extending your brother an invitation for---days.
Also send a copy of your passport and visa.

He will require a letter from his employer, stating his job status,
salary earned and his leave duration.
His salary slip, savings statements and tax returns if any.
Any documents relating to ties in India. Property papers,
Job offers, career plans etc.
His rental agreement in UK.
