  • Information on I-134 form

I am inviting my M-I-L for which the interview is scheduled on 18th August 2006. In the I-134 form, on question 8 (Following person depend upon my support....Wholly dependent, partially dependent) I have not mentioned my wife name thinking that this section is for only monetory dependency (as my wife is doing job) . Will it create any problem ? I have sent original marriage cerificate .... and all my bank account and visa I have my wife name.

Any information on this will be highly appreciated.

Is your wife legally working? i mean is she on any payroll and can prove that she is earning particular amount of money every month?
If so, it is good to send some kind of proof of her income too. (i know its very less time...but if possible you can either fax them or scan and send an email. they can print it).

Be prepare for the questions like why she(her daughter) has not sponsored her? what kind of job she is doing? what she will do here in weekdays? etc. etc...

Don't worry. sometimes they even don't see all these documents. But ofcourse we should be prepared from our side.

    Good luck.

      I-131

yeah, she is legally working and i have sent all the suppoting document. I was not sure that the "dependance" means they are talking about the fincial dependance only.

She got inot job last year only ..... so I thot it will be easy if i invite that way i can show all fincial support information easily. Should i say same reason if they ask me that question ?

Also, what is the good answer if they ask me what she will do in daytime?

      thanks again for the response,
      TT

You can specify "partially dependent". When she was asked what are you going to do in weekdays ask her to tell them that her daughter is going to take leave for few days to spend with her and to show around the places.
        Hope this helps

          Partially Dependent

I have already sent the I-131 form and the interview is on Friday. Will it act against me as i have not mentioned her as partially dependent? or should i ask them to add her name in I-131 form ( but i have my doubt that they may catch it and that may prove severe for them). Any advise on this will be gretaly appreciated.

          Thanks,
          TT

Don't worry. And let the I-134 as it is. I won't advice to get it changed by someone else.
Dependency means financial dependency only. but in some cases people are working part time or not on regular pay role. In those case they will not be considered as independent and need to be mentioned in I-134.

Explain your MIL in detail about jobs of both of you and be relax.

For weekdays she can say that she would like to take rest during those days, she spends much time for some religious activities, watching TV, cooking etc. etc. Its not big deal. Those kind of questions are generally asked to see your confidence level and cross check your intentions of travelling.

            All the best.
