Thanks much for all your help especially to Immihelp,Ram kumar kodital
and Dahlia.
My dad for ME visa at Mumbai consulate.
Following were the questions asked.
1.) What do you do ?
(My dad is retired/widower)
2.) Why you will come back from USA ?
3.) What is the age of your grandsons?
4.) Who is sponsoring your visit?
We (almost everyone attending that day ) had hassles with the visa issuance fees.Since everyone took the appointment long time ago probably in
the month of Jan-Feb, the visa issuance fee was Rs.2300/- then.
In August-06 the fees is raised to Rs.2400/- and most of people did not knew
this and many of them who knew felt that the raised fees is for people who are going to take the appointment on or after August-06.
They were not even allowed entry into the consulate and was asked to bring
the DD of addational Rs.100/- . With many people had time slot of early morning 0800 or 0900 AM they feared that if they miss the slot, thats over.
(Banks open after 1000PM).
But fortunately they were allowed after the appointment time with the addational DD of Rs.100/-.
However, just in case , for information , if anyone requires any banking work done,there is bank just adjacent to consulate (unable to recall its name) which opens at 0900 AM and little farther away towards Mahalakshi temple on
the right hand side,there is Bank of Baroda which opens quite early at 0800 AM.
Whole lot of people seeking visa lined up at this morning even before BoB
could open.We took the DD from this bank.
So the bottom line is irrespective of the date you took appointment, check
for any latest charges addational or raised just before few days of your appointment at consulate.
Check not just the VFS site but consulate site as well.
