  • Help required regarding rescheduling visa appointment

    Hello,

My mom-in-law had her visa appointment in English today. When she was entering the building, the security officers asked her If she wanted/has english or telugu appointment. Being more comfortable in telugu than english, she told telugu. They cancelled her english appointment and asked her to reschedule her appointment in telugu and come back. She tried going back and telling them she will attend english appointment only but they did not allow her inside and told her appointment was cancelled and asked her to reschedule in next 2 days.

Please help us in this regard. How are we supposed to proceed further? Should we start the whole process of booking the appointment from beginning. Also let us know if we can use the existing DD's that we have taken as we did not use them for this appointment. Since they asked us to take appointment in telugu and no telugu dates are available as of now, can we take another english appointment or should we wait for telugu dates?

    Any info is appreciated.

    Thanks

If I remember correctly, security ppl does not have authority to cancel the appointment reg language confilct, only VOs can do (I think)

    yes
Also let us know if we can use the existing DD's that we have taken as we did not use them for this appointment.
Yes, you can but dont use as most of the DDs have limited validity period, and if you cannot get new date within that period it is not useful, and DD amt may change at any time so pl cancel the DD and take new DD before going for interview

You can... if she is comfortable with English otherwise wait for Telugu
    Any info is appreciated.

Only Vo people have authority to cancel the appointment regarding language confilct. Start the whole process of booking the appointment from beginning. do not use very old DD. Take new DD before going for interview. All the best!

        Thanks for your responses.

I guess it must be the people from visa office who cancelled the appointment.Though i'am still unable to figure out why they didnot allow my mom-in-law to attend the interview in english even though she was ready for that.

I understand that the DD for visa issusance fee can be refunded as visa has not been issued. But i was wondering about DD's for visa application fee and visa service charges.I know we can use these two DD's for one interview only, but since my mom-in-law's interview didnot actually happen and there was no visa rejection(there is no rejection stamp on passport), wanted to know if v can use these DD's again for booking the appointment.

        TIA...

            To: Newbiehere

You can use the old HDFC bank receipts as the interview did not happen. But, the new appointment that you are going to make should be within 1yr from the date the fee was paid in the HDFC. Cancel the $50 DD (i.e. Rs.2400/-) and take it when your MIL's new appointment approaches.

Sorry to see all the trouble that your MIL went through. Good luck to her next time!!

            - Jaya.

              Thanks Jaya....

Swathi : We followed the same procedure as Jaya mentioned... I contacted vfs people and they told existing DD's can still be used within 1 year. We are now in the process of finding a telugu appointment date. So i guess even you have to start the whole process again i.e create a new application with the existing DD receipt number and look out for avalilable slots.
              Hope this helps...

                Hi Friend,

These buggers are tricking our innocent people. We should educate our family members about all these things before they are going to the consulate.

It is really bullshit to cancel her appointment. Anyways there is no other option buddy.

Really the entire visa appointment process is pathetic. We should do something to change this process. We all are paying thousands of dollars as taxes to this country and paying hefty amounts as visa fees even though it is really difficult to get a visa to parents.

Recently one of my friends parents appointment was cancelled by consulate peopla the entry gate becoz of the silly reason that they took an appointment in English and his profession is farming. They told you are farmer you cannot speak english and canceled the appointment.

                It is really pathetic.

                Bye
                Baabee

                  Same story here as well

My Parents went to Chennai Consulate on 30th Aug,i thought i have booked telugu appointment but it end up in english. In the pre-screeing area they have ask them to reschedule in 'telugu'.I called up VFS caz appointment leter i saved in march and current version has different formats. They agreed about the migration to the new format but they don't want to consider my original scheduled date to reschedule in 'Telugu'..Then i send an e-mail to chennai consulate with 2 diff versions of appointment letters expecting they will do some thing..

I got a response from chennai consulate saying they are unable to expedite our request caz of tight interview slots....so now i am in process of rescheduling in 'Telugu' but no dates are available.

VFS sytem has so many issues not sure why they are not fixing them..
1.There is no language option to reschedule
2.Won't allow us to save the application if dates are not available
                  3.Poor Customer Support

Any one has any info on booking the appointments in telugu even through the agents pls do let me know...

                    Hi Nimmi,
I had a bad exp with agents. don't go with agents. I got appt for my parents through agent. And the appt which i got was in eng and emergency appt though i req them in telugu. they made me to cancel my existing appt in dec and wasted 2 months and i got the above appt. Now my parents asked to reschedule the appt in telugu by VO. Now i have started again after canceling my existing appt and wasting time with agents.
