There is a wait time of 3-6 months to get an interview date - depends on the consulate and the language chosen for the interview. You may visit http://vfs-usa.co.in and click on 'click here to check the availability of appointments' link at the bottom to find out how much wait time you have for your base consulate.
The interview itself is only 2-5 minutes.
