  • Business visit on a B2 visa

    hi all,

i a new person to the galaxy of US visas and hence confused. i have a B1/B2 visa. my employer in india asked me to travel to US for a business trip. although i told the immigration officer the purpose of my trip to US is business, he stamped me a 6 month 1-94 B2 (tourist entry).

now i am here and being paid my per diem as i would have been on a business trip ...

what are the potential risks that i run? would be nice if you folks could pitch in and let me know so that i may be fore-warned...

    thanks !

As long as you have B1/B2 visa, it does not matter whether you come to US for B1 or for B2.

Your I-94 was wrongly stamped. You cannot be paid per diem on a B2 classification. In reality it may go unnoticed and if you are to depart US soon, just let it go. But if you plan to stick around for some more time and be paid the money , you should get the correction made on your I-94 by contacting the CBP office.
