How soon can you return to United states on visitor visa

I have a question about visitor visa.
It is of multiple entry 10 yr visa.
I am requesting an extension of my stay but not sure if it will be granted.
In worst case, if it is not granted, how soon can I visit back.
Do I have to go through embassy again or I directly book the flight ticket and show up at the airport?

you can return at any time (but ~6 months stay is good ).
You need to explain reasons for early return
