  • Bank Balance question.

    Hi,

In my Account Verification letter ( got from the bank ),
checking + savings a/c amount total will be less than $10,000,
but also shows the CD with balance of $20,000+.

So, total it will be around $30K.

Can I still sponsor both of my parents? Is it mandatory that Checking should have more than $10,000 in order to sponsor both of our parents.

    Thanks for your help

    Srinivas,

I showed $11K in checking and $10K in a CD (no savings account for me as it doesn't give good interest. I always save in CDs). Both are with the same bank and hence the bank verification letter showed both balances. My parents got 10-yr multiple entry visa.

I think $30K in your case is more than enough and I don't think the amount should be restricted to either checking or savings or anything. As long as the money is liquid and is easily accessible to pay for their travel it will be enough.

        bank balance question

        HI

my parents are scheduled appoitment in Dec 06. i would like to send the documents in the last week of november.

        here my question are:

        1) i have only 4k in my account, but i borrowed another 11k from my friends, so they will deposit end of this month. so my plan is take the statement on oct 1 and nov 1 and want to send my parents (two statements are enough?)

please what would be the ideal to take care of this situation.

        thanks
        L

Actually, average balance should be good enough along with the 'current' balance. You also need to get a letter from your bank stating these 3 things: 1) the date a/c was opened 2) current balance 3) average balance over the past 3/6/12 months. In your case, you may get a letter with average balance over the past 3 months (instead of 6 or 12 months) so that the average will be a little higher.

2 months of bank statements will be enough.

              L

I am sorry to be harsh, but what you are trying to do is a bit of cheating. You basically don't seem to have the means to support the visitors, but want to make it look like you do.

No wonder the process is becoming tougher and tougher, sadly for those who play it straight too.

                sorry, but...

sorry to hear about the previous rejection. i can understand the disappointment.

however, we can't be sure that they rejected the visa because they saw that piece of paper. remember, your parents in that situation were probably very tensed and may not remember the exact sequence of events.

no matter what, i'd do the right thing on my part. (i had planned for this bank balance requirement several months ahead of time; and maintained that amount in a savings account though i could have invested it else where.)

your first post (with out the background information) will give wrong ideas to other people. so, please be careful.

we shouldn't be making our our lives harder by trying to bend the rules or finding loopholes.

                good luck this time around.
