Visitor visa at Canada

Hi,

I applied for a visitor visa to USa to meet my mother -in-law's sister. I was denied a visa on the grounds that I live alonee at Canada while my family is in India and that I have to demonstrate ties to Canada. They suggested that I apply for a Visa at India. Any comments?

I guess it is ok for you to apply in canada not India because you are a PR of canada and you are not required to have ties to India.
Your purpose to visit US was vague too, visiting a distant relative in US in absence of family ties in canada arouses suspicion.

I suggest you wait several months and apply with a real purpose in US,
a purpose related to your work like a conference or a business visit, is more
likely to be successful.

If you cannot arrange a business purpose, you should develop some
family ties in canada like getting married or bringing a parent to canada.
