my parents are having thir appointment by the 4th week of Sept. we have downloaded the DS 156 and DS157 forms from the wesite.my questions is do we need to submit any forms prior to the interview...?.... if any how many days prior to interview date?

if its chennai, no need to submit anything in advance. For mumbai, the answer is yes. Check this website's visitor visa section for more details.
