  • visa for parents who are doctors

    dear administrator,
this site has helped me a lot to get a visa for myself after an earlier rejection.
now my parents want to apply for a visitors visa.
both of them are doctors and have their own private practice, a house and will be sponsering their own trip.

    my question is:
i am on a visitors visa right now, but will be applying for H1 soon, will tht affect my parents getting a visa?
should they wait till after i get my visa?
since they are doctors does that decrease their chances of acquiring a visa?
wht reason should they write for visiting the US?will it help if they write they are attending a conference?

It is not a good idea for them to apply soon after you get your H-1 because
the officer will know you changed status in US and have intentions of staying in US and your parents may want to do the same.

    For more suggestion, please answer;

1.What reason did you say to the embassy officer for your visit when you were interviewed at the embassy? How long have you been in US?

2.What actually is the purpose of their visit? Is it casual? How long do they
    want to come here for?

3.Do they have any more children in US or in India? Single or married?

    4. Have they ever visited any other country? For conferences or for
    tourism?

If you say conference, I am sure they will ask for proof. They can say 'tourism' as the main purpose of the visit and any individual has the right to visit any country with his own money. Do they have any other children or brothers/sisters or cousins in USA?

My father is a doctor with his own private practice and my mom is a housewife. They recently got 10yr multiple entry visa at Chennai consulate.

I suggest to ask for a shorter time frame (ex: 2 to 4 months). We asked for 4 months in my parents applications.

Regarding your visa status, I will ask you to wait for others to respond as I do not know much about it.

thank you so much for your replies, i appreciate it.
i went to the US for completion of my licensing exams, as i am a doctor myself.

my parents have two children, my sister who is in india and myself.my sister is married.
my parents also have to take care of my grandfather, he lives in the same bldg not the same house.

they have not visited other countries before.

their purpose of visit is tourism.

It is not advised for your parents to apply for a visitor visa at this time.
This is because you have just come to US on a tourist visa and they are applying for a casual visit.

Both of them coming to a conference seems unnatural, and then the obvious question would be who will be running their practice in their absence and they will be suspect to join you in your quest to settle in US.In fact I do not understand what is the hurry for you to ask them to come to US?
Why do they not wait till you are well into your residency program?
