  • Bringing Aunt to the US!

I want to bring my Aunt(Mothers sister) to the US for 6 months or so. Is it possible? She has never travelled outside the country before. What are the chances she will get her visa? What documents are required.

    Thanks

    Need a lot more info to answer your question;
    Your job/visa status in US.
Where is your mother and does she have a visa??
Does your aunt have any blood relatives in US (spouse, children, siblings)?
What is hers and her husband's job/ financial status in India ?
How many children do they have? Where? What do they do?
Has she ever travelled before to a foreign country?

      Hi,

I am on H1B visa. My wife is on H1B visa. My parents are here in the US as greencard holders and my sister is a citizen.

My aunt is divorced, does not have children and she is retired from government service. She gets good pension and lives with one relative of hers in India.

She has never travelled to any foreign country before.

        Do not mean to dishearten you , but it will be hard for her to get a visitor visa. Reason; NO important ties with India;
no family and no occupational ties.

If she wishes, she can give it a try; if she is very lucky, she may get a lenient officer at the interview.
Let her show all her savings/pension and say that she is spending
her own money for the trip. Your mother can just send her an invitation letter
with copies of her passport and green card.
(addressed to the consular, US embassy/consulate describing her status
in US and saying that she is inviting her sister for 3-4 months and request
        grant of a visitor visa.)

          Supersix,
if you tell the truth your aunt will NOT get the visa as she has no strong ties. If you want her to get the visa lie to the VO. Tell the VO that she is married and that her husband can't accompany as he looks after family business or he can't get leave from job. Tell that she has an unmarried daughter. Also tell that hers is a joint family and in-laws live with her. She will surely get the visa. Don't be afraid to l;ie, thats what these idiot VO deserve. truth does'nt work for them.

Yes. American visa officers are bastards. My parents
told everything truly and they did not give the visa.
My father is retired. We have house and lot of
property. But visa officers even did not look after that.
This is the sequence of questions:

            1) How many childeren do you have ?
            Ans -2
            2) Who is staying in India ?
            Ans: Daughter
            3) Is she married ?
            Ans: Yes

            Thats it. Visa got rejected.

My friends parents dont have any property and they
were retired, but they lied in the interview that
they are doing business. Thats it. They got 10 years
            multiple entry visas.
