  • FYI, Canceling appointment

I am sure lot of people already know about it. But, I am posting this anyway. If you cancel the appt twice, you can't take an appointment for next two months.

    I learned it hard way...

There is an updated to Cancellation of Interview Appointment posted on VFS web site on Sep 29, 2006. If you cancel the appointment twice, your receipt will be deactivated for 90 calendar days. Earlier it used to be for 60 calendar days.

It is like to going to school all again. I don't understand why they are punishing people so harshly for canceling appointments. We have to keep in mind that HDFC receipt is valid for only 1 year and there are no interview dates available for the next 6 months. Puzzles me.

The new rule is that the receipt gets deactivated for 90 days. I just don't understand why they have to deactivate it for 25% of the 1 yr time frame just for cancelling the appt. The computer just automatically cancels/prepones/postpones the appt without manual intervention - in other words, there is no cost to VFS if applicants change their interview date coz there is no physical person sitting there to assist us with every cancellation. Also, I don't understaand why one is not allowed to prepone. It is really ridiculous.

Also, everyone, please note that you can cancel only once, and the second time you try to cancel it the receipt gets deactivated. The word 'twice' is misleading. Be aware.
