  • B2 Visa for Spouse (Urgent)

Hi I am holding a B1 Visa and will be travelling to US in Jan'07.
I have applied for Visitor's Visa for my wife. I will be submitting my income proof to support her visit. My current salary is INR 7lac p.a. but my past income-tax returns dont show a gr8 picture.
How much minimum bank balance I should have to support her visit. Will a letter from my employer stating that the cost of stay will be borne by them help?
What are the chances of getting a B2 Visa for my wife?

    Thanx in Advance

Mostly, they do not look at your savings balance but decide on the basis of your income. 7 lacs/yr is sufficient.

      Your wife will be asked;
      who is financing your trip?
      MY HUSBAND
      what does he do?
HE WORKS IN A COMPANY AS-----
      what is his income?
RS 7 LACS PER YEAR..... SHOW SALARY SLIP AND LETTER FROM EMPLOYER.

I suggest you arm her with your salary slip and a letter from your employer
showing your employee status and the salary earned. That will do the trick.
No need to send IT returns.

Also send a current bank statement in case they ask. 8-10 lacs in all
      deposits will do.

Your income part is fine but you should make sure the other part, that is
the purpose of her visit is reasonable too.

          Hi Peace,

Thanks a lot for your valuable advise. This will definitely help to prepare for the interview.
I have one more question for you regarding the interview dates.
I originally got 26th March 2007 as interview date. Earlier this week I found few date in Dec were open, so I cancelled the 26th March appointment and got a new date for 4th Dec’06.
Now few dates in November are open. Can I now cancel the appointment second time and get a new earlier interview date?
I am confused with the statement vfs.co.in
“If you wish to cancel your appointment, you can cancel a maximum of TWICE. After your second cancellation, your receipt will be deactivated for 90 calendar days. You will not be able to take a subsequent new appointment during that period. “

          Please advise

          Thanks Again

            Dinkar,

I dont see any problem in getting tourist visa for your wife.

            1. You are going to visit and will be back in one month before her visa interview. that shows you are not intend to stay back in US.

            2. Even if you ask for 6 weeks or 6 months she will get 10 year multiple entry visa. As peace mentioned, your income part of it is more than enough. She can very well say that she want to accompany her husband, if there is more duration in the future, that will allow the VO to think and grant them 10 year visa.

Once again these are all our thinking and ideas!! Best of luck for the upcoming interview for your wife. Dont change the dates and go for december interview by the time you will also prove that you went and came back.

            regards

Got Tourist Visa .. Now how about L1 vs B1?

              Hi Pushpa / Peace

Thanks a Lot for all your valuable advise. My wife got 10yrs Multiple entry tourist Visa. She was asked only details about my visa status and her purpose of trip... it all went smoothly and the only document she (VO) verified was my passport. I did armed her with all the documents like here eductaional certificates, her MBA exam admit card and April 2007 Schedule to prove that whe will be back in India for exams and my other financial documents.
She was prepared with all the documents but there was no need for any of these ... luckily ... I was waiting out side the Consulate and could see all smiling faces specially from those who were seeking dependents visa ... 2nd Dec might have been good day for visa candidates.

I request one more information from you ... since I have B1 and my wife has B2 now .. will by applying for L1 visa my B1 Visa has to be surrendered?

              Please advise...

              Appreciate your help

              Best Regards,

              Dinkar
