  • US sponsor, Bank statements in India too??

I am sponsoring my mom in India, and I am planning to submit my bank statement with average balance for around $10K. We dont have much properties in India, except a house nor my mom has any deposits or bank balances. My mom is a home maker and widow.

Is it enough that I show my bank statements, Or should I be prepared to include my mom's as well to strengthen my application??

If you are sponsoring, it is not necessary to show your mom's bank statements.

      Hi little,
      I too have similar problem

My Mom is 53 . I am one Son and I have 2 sisters in India. I am married and my wife is also a H1-B holder living with me in US. We have a pre-matured baby ( still in NICU since last 3 months) born in US. . My sisters are married ,having kids living with their husband and they are house wife (India).

My mom was living with me and now she is taking care of my house in India. My father expired about 5 years back and she has the money (3 lakhs) on a co-operative bank as FD. She doesnt have any property on her name however property about 4 lakhs on my father name is there.

She doesnt have any monthly income. She doesnt have any running Bank a/c and she maintains money in FD.

I send money for her every month. Also My sisters take care of her. My Grand Mother lives with my mom ( but no document available)

      Now here are my questions

      1) Will it be a problem as she doesnt have any savings bank a/c.. having FD in CO-OPERATIVE bank is acceptable?
      2) She doesnt have any property .. can we just show some jewels and the FDs. Is that amount sufficient?
      3) What should she answer for what she is doing ? If she says that she is housewife and she doesnt work and no income and she says that she receive money from me/or my sisters, will it create a problem?
      4) What should she say for reason to visit US, can she say too meet the son, daughter in law and the new born pre-matured baby ( by the time she attend interview baby will be at home) also tourism..? Wont they consider she will come and take care of baby and refuse visa? Stressing more on saying like want to see the new born that too pre-matured like that will be more value? ( she wants to come mainly to see the baby also I cant carry her now to India)

      5) No proof that my grand mother lives with my mom, so is she neeed to say that her mom lives with her?

        Hello Srinivas,

        1. If the ration card has your grandmother's name, it will be a good proof that she lives with her. She can also take some pictures with her.

        2. As Immihelp said, You dont have to show your mom's bank statements instead show your bank statements here, if you are sponsoring. If she has a FD, its good to show that. dont have to mention about you sending money.

I dont know how bad is it not owning any property in India. May be someone who was in a similar situation can help ! I want to know too!!
