Is it okay to leave it blank?

Hi,

I have left some questions blank, which were not applicable while fillinf the DS156 and 157 for my mother.

I left it blank for questions like , list your last 2 employers.. (my mom is a house wife and this does not apply to her)

List all the educational institutes you have attended..

( i thought this was for students so i did not fill it) i left it blank..

is this all okay??

Please help!

I was able to go back and change the application and downloaded the changed version.

REg Blank in DS156

Hi
We have taken appointments for parents online.
After taking appointment ,we filled DS156 and DS157 online.
But in that,for questions like fax number or cell number,I tried to write NA but it is prompting error saying it should be number.

For Question number 20,Name and address of present school or employer,as my mother is house wife,I selected no.Then it disabled address field.So I am not able to enter NA.

But when I downloaded generated pdfs,it is leaving those fields(phone numbers,name and adress of current employer) as blank.
Can I write with Pen,with hand writing NA after taking print outs.

No need to modify.. You can keep it as it is. Make sure to enter the values online , if the system permits otherwise blank is okay

Forms Help

The following information comes from the visa section of the website of the U.S. Embassy, New Delhi. (The non-live web address previously on this page was deleted by Immihelp on the 17/10/2006.)

If you completed your application forms online and booked your visa interview appointment, VFS' system saves your forms and you can retrieve and modify them up to two business days before your interview. Go to the VFS website, click the "Apply for Non-immigrant Visa" link and continue until the "Retrieve/Modify a saved application" link appears. Click on this link, follow the instructions and make your changes. Note: in the online DS-156 Form you cannot modify Boxes 1 to 14

Respond to all the questions. If you have no response for a question, write "none" or "nil". Do not draw a line or write "NA" or "not applicable"

You may amend, at any time, your completed and printed application forms in pen if the details of your application change or you made a mistake. Do not complete and print another DS-156 or DS-157 Form. Amend your original forms instead

You must provide specific contact and address information both in India and the U.S. Applications with responses such as "any hotel" as the address in the U.S. will be rejected for additional information

In Box 3 of the DS-156 Form (Issuing Country), write in the country that issued you your passport

If you have only one name, a "first name", please enter your name in Box 6 of the DS-156 Form (Surnames) and write "FNU" in Box 7 (First & Middle Names)

If you have first and second names, but no surname, please enter your second name in Box 6 of the DS-156 Form (Surnames)

In Box 8 of the DS-156 Form (Other Surnames Used), if you are a married woman write in your surname (or second name) before marriage, that is, your "maiden" name

In Box 22 of the DS-156 Form (When do you intend to Arrive in the U.S.?) you must give a date. This can be a specific date or a tentative date

In Box 41 of the DS-156 Form, you must sign the application, even if someone else fills out your form

Use a laser printer to print your application forms

In Box 3 of the DS-157 Form [Full Name (In Native Alphabet)], you must write your full name in your native alphabet. This could be Hindi script if you are an Indian

They have mentioned in the application itself .. within the brackets of every question.. please write NA if it does not apply .. even at the begining of the application they have mentioned this! please clarify again

well, this is what I did for my in-laws, (I don’t think it makes sense to write anything when system decides to print blank.)
