    hi,
myself and my wife are doctors. I am presently working and have a valid visa to US multiple entry for a year. My wife is presenlty into clincial trials research. she applied once in the may but was rejected but the fault was ours that we didnt support ourself with required docments.

This time she has got a scholarship to study abt the clincial trials in National Institute of Health in US. but its a 6 month course only and conducted only tiwce in a week..the people in US said that thay cant sponspr her a F 1 as its only for a 6 months time.

What kind visa should i apply...by reading this website i came to know that B1/B2 can should to study for a period of one year.

If the counselor asks that what ur going to do for the rest of the week when the classes are not conducted....we cant say that we will work....can we say that we can assist in research work in NIH.

What do u think, we should do and say...

My wife is very tensed abt it as its her second time and she was very upset the first time when she got rejected..

Pls tell us shall we proceed with this or not...

    with regards

This definitely does not qualify for F-1 or an M-1 as they are meant for full time studies.
It could qualify for a B1, but it is uncertain. You will be taking a chance anyway.
If it is a very important situation, try emailing an immigration attorney, there are several attorneys who answer initial questions for free.

      thanks for the reply

      hi,
      thanks for the reply...
I read from the previous post of urs that ur a physician...

First time when she applied...she had just given her USMLE Step 1 and got the permit for the step 2 CS and then she went for the interview. we didnt have the scores ready nor has she taken the step 2 CK...First time she has documented that the reason for going to US is for taking the step 2 CS exam..

But sadly...she couldnt clear the step 1 exam....

Now can we say that she has got the scholarship for the clincial trials in NIH.
what do u think her chances are
Or do u suggest do go for the interview only after the step 1 and 2 scores.

thanks once again for the reply
      with regards

Though her offer at NIH is directly related to her job at home, she will probably still be denied because she has previously expressed plans for USMLE. Also, there is this chance that the NIH course may not be permitted under B1 or any non-immigrant visa category. So I suggest it is safer to take the older route; Get good scores on
step1 and step2ck; and then apply for the visa to take step 2cs.
