H1-Transferred recently, need to sponser my parents

Hi,

Recently my H-1 got transferred from my current company to new company and i will be joining the new company in next week.

I am planning to sponser my parents and their appointments are confirmed in chennai for NOV 14th 2006. I am worried that I may not have the I-797 petition approved by that time. But i will have the receipt number from USCIS mentioning that it was in processing. Will this Receipt number suffice in place of the new I-797? Please let me know ASAP.
