Total Funds for Visitors Visa

Hi All,
I have a question. I am planning to invite my parents to the US on a visitors visa for the first time. For the Affidavit of support, i want to know how much funds do we need to show. They will be here for about 2-3 months.

If we have property in the US, can we show that in lieu of funds ? or how much approximately in US$ do we have to show ?

Sorry, this is the first time i am going to be sponsoring them, so any information would help for me.
