  • How old can the Sponsor/Visitor documents be?

    Hi,
My FIL was rejected visitor visa on Aug 22, 2006. Now we got a second interview appointment on Nov 16, 2006. I was wondering how old the visitor and sponsor documents can be ? In some posts it says 1 year old and in some it says 30-45days old. Could some one please clarify.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Vani

I think 1 year is too much for docs like bank letter, employement letter, pay stubs etc.
    I wld say 30-45 days

I think most of your documents from August should be good enough.

      1) A letter from the bank dated August should be okay as long as it is supported by the monthly statements for Aug-Nov months.

      2) A letter from the employer dated August should be okay as long as it is supported by the pay stubs from Aug-Nov months.

      3) You can obviously re-use the copies of passport/birthcertificate/H1B/GC/Driving license/SSN etc as nothing changes in them.

      4) You can change the date on invitation letter, letter to consulate etc and take another print out (easy job)

      5) The only thing I suggest you to get again is the I-134 which is one of the most important documents and it is at your best interest to keep it as current as possible.

      6) Your FIL can follow a similar procedure. Ex: Take the same property evaluation documents, bank letters, affidavits etc along with the bank pass book with the recent transations, along with recent utility bills etc. He can change the date on the cover letter to the consulate accordingly and take another print out of it. Other than this, I don't think your FIL needs to re-survey his home or pay the auditor/tax officer again to get new sets of documents.

As RK said, 1 yr old documents are too old to present to the consulate. 2-3 months should be okay as long as you/your FIL attach recent pay stubs, recent bank statements etc to support those 3 month old documents...

      Good luck this time!!

Hi, I agree with RKK. mOST of your documents should be 1 to 1 1/2 months old.
